7 Unimportant Things About Me!
1. I danced for 12 years ( no not as a pole dancer- lol) tap, ballet, jazz. I was one year away from my teaching certificate and quit...I still regret it to this day!
2. I prefer my steak cold straight out of the fridge! Cooked medium, but cold! Crazy huh?
3. A day without coffee or hot tea would mean death for me~~~that's almost all I ever drink even in 90 degree weather (It's a Canadian thing, God I miss Tim Horton's sigh) Oh and I miss the Timbits too! NOT the donut holes? huh
4. I have secretly dreamed of becoming a motivational speaker...(stupid huh?)
5. I hate people that are not on time it drives me crazy! Why set an appointment or a time to meet if you can't get there on time?
6. I cry a lot--- even at commercials....I'm a big wuss and wear my heart on my sleeve, although most people don't see that about me at first.......
7. I have always dreamed of becoming a published writer..finally might see this dream come true ;-)

Multiple personality disorder? Say it isn't so!!!

Some of you may or may not have heard of a new television show called "United States of Tara". I fell upon it one late night unable to sleep and found myself completely captivated by the show! It's on the showtime channel, and well worth a look-see.... and here's why...
The basic idea of the show is simple, a somewhat normal family living in suburbia, and with an untrained eye, a "normal" family...HA! The main character TARA, has multiple personality disorder..she has recently decided to stop taking her medication and try to live her life as 'normally" as possible...*he he* Note, the series would be considered rated "R" so please take that into consideration if watching it.
Her main character Tara is the normal one...the one who had a terrible tragedy happen to her which caused her disorder, of which her husband is desperately trying to get to the bottom of..
She has a completely non-sensitive sister who merely tolerates her, but hates the fact that she seems to have all the happiness in her life...
Her husband is absolutely adorable.... and a very recognizable actor..I'll let you look that up;)
She also has two children.. a teenage daughter who is rebellious, and a son who is the brain but trying to determine his own sexuality...
So this got me to thinking......maybe she has the right idea because let's face it ladies there are days we feel like this right? OK let's see........
Last but not least ......
I am starting to think that having Multiple Personality Disorder might be something shared by all women....maybe we just don't know it?? Maybe we need to literally "play out" those roles like she does and become "One" with the characters.... I mean what a great excuse...."Sorry honey I had no idea "T" used the credit card to buy a whole new wardrobe...or "honey I'm sorry dinner isn't ready but you know "Buck" ain't the cooking kind...
I think they are onto something here...
The producer of the show is Stephen Spielberg...I say it's worth the watch....just be forewarned of the content being rated "R"...
Today I was the blogger and I know I am way behind and trying desperately to catch up! Sadly the show isn't on any more but if you get a chance to see it, you won't be disappointed!
Well....trying to decide what hat to wear today..thinking writer...
Hugs

What is and who is Frenchkilt?
People have been asking about my pen name. Well, it's really quite simple. I'm a French Canadian (although rarely speak it anymore) and my husband was Scottish, hence frenchkilt. I started becoming an HGTV junkie. Then several of the followers I had started blogs. So I started one too. I mostly blogged about decorating and life, but managed to gain a sizable following roughly 800++. My claim to fame was when I was asked to be on the HGTV show Rate My Space. Someone had requested they use my home as a guide for a re-do in their home in California. It made the TV show and the State newspaper here. Needless to say it was extremely exciting! So, how does that all fit into my life as a writer? Well, all those ladies who week after week for 3 years were the ones that talked me into writing! I had a second blog dedicated strictly to the story I was creating for my readership! A story that finally ended at over 50K words!
So that's the name history and my blogging history. Once I decided to write, really write, and start another blog I wanted the ladies that inspired me, to be able to find me once again! Once you've been known by one handle it's best to stick to it. So for years, approximately 5 years of blogging and contributing to HGTV's site I found no reason to change it!
My current debut novel Oracle, has been a work in progress (WIP) for roughly 5 years. It started out as a short novelette, and now here I am 5 years later with it in editing at 163K words. I cannot take all the credit, I do have some very encouraging friends, that were there to cheer me on! I doubt I ever would've had a novel of this size without their support. I'm really excited about it's release but also terrified. I'm sure most first time authors feel the same. We pray, and hope our work or baby gets the love we feel it deserves!
I am a mother of two beautiful children and a grandmother to a beautiful grandson who is coming up on his first year birthday!
I have worked in many fields in my life, bartender, waitress, flight attendant, real estate agent, business owner, and finally found my home as an RN and writer. As a little girl, I wanted to be a dancer, a nurse and an actress. Well, I danced tap, ballet and jazz for 15 years. I'm now a nurse. Acting, I guess my 3 minute episode fulfills that too! I believe that one should never look back and say what if....I think you need to step out of your comfort zone and go after dreams, regardless of how unattainable they may seem to be. Never trying is failing, and never failing is never learning and growing! I hope this sheds a little light into who frenchkilt is :)
Cheers, Live, Love, and Laugh, Lisa (aka frenchkilt)
